In the summer before my freshman year of high school I received some advice:
"remember to always be kind"
This simple reminder to stay true, humble and good to others has become a personal motto of sorts. Over the past few months I have been shown great kindness and generosity from friends both old and new. Whether it be a quick smile in passing or an unexpected gift, acts of kindness go a long way and have the power to brighten even the most overcast days - when feeling lonely or frustrated is easy. It can be easy to bottle up anger or resentment but putting your energy into brightening another person's day is a far more noble action. So the next cloudy day you have remember to be kind.
Don't be kind because you expect it in return, be kind because you can.
